He married Ernestine GUTT in Town of Senneca, Shawano Co., WI, April 19, 1872. Ernestine was born March 15, 1851. Ernestine died November 7, 1928 in Town of Almon, Shawano Co., WI, at 77 years of age. Her body was interred in Evergreen Cemetery, Bowler, WI.

He was christened in Gross Belschwitz, West Prussia, Germany, February 18, 1844.
